Review: Maybelline Clear Smooth Aqua Gel Foundation

This is another innovation from Maybelline, its a gel foundation. Maybelline Clear Smooth Aqua Gel Foundation comes in 6 different shades, 11 Ivory, 12 Natural, 13 Light Beige, 14 Sand, 22 Natural Beige, 24 True Beige, the one I have is Natural.

It is 100% oil free, dermatologist tested, allergy tested, fragrance free, hypoallergenic, won't clog pores (non-comedogenic). With everything's described above, I thought that this foundation is great for oily/combination skin, and here is my review about this foundation.

What the product claims:
  • Water-based formula gives skin a light and fresh sensation
  • Controls shine for an all day perfect and healthy-looking complexion
  • Evens out skin tone and covers imperfections
  • Feels soothing and cares for your skin with chamomile, aloe and Vitamin E
First of all, I'm not a really big fan of the packaging, it comes in small nozzle plastic bottle, I prefer foundation that comes with a pump bottle. The texture of the product is really liquid-y, it feels really light on the skin and easy to apply with fingers, brush or sponge, but it also has light coverage. Even it has no SPF in it, but I think this is perfect as everyday-foundation, since you don't have to set it with powder because it has matte finish. But if you have scars, pigmentation, dark spots to cover, you might need concealer, because this foundation is really sheer, it should be described as a BB cream, not a foundation.



However, even though this foundation is oil-free, it doesn't have oil control, my skin will look oily for couple of hours after I put on this foundation, even I set it off with powder. I have no problem with the texture, coverage and shades, the color is great for my complexion.

I don't recommend this foundation for oily/combination skin, or if you need medium-high coverage foundation. I'm not sure if I'm going to purchase this product after I run out, because I have other light coverage BB Cream and CC Cream.

    I am currently using this because I'm running out of my usual foundation and haven't got the time to purchase a new one haha.
    Must agree with you, the oil control is not the best. But the plus point it doesn't break me out :)
