What is it with men with British accent?

I started watching Sherlock last year and completely awed by every little things related to Britain, especially Benedict Cumberbatch. I know, I know, I'm always so late when it comes to good TV series... But it's better late than never. In my opinion, by far, Benedict Cumberbatch is the most suitable actor for Sherlock Holmes role, and the worst one would be Iron Man lol.

Then I watched The Imitation Game (just to watch Benedict and listen to his accent, because I'm too tired to wait for the next season of Sherlock), and it turned out to be SO. GOOD. you guys must watch it! I won't give you any details, because my sister Gabbie always hate it when I give her spoilers of movies or books, even the unimportant ones, she'll go mad and crazy for days :-S

Actually, there's nothing much going on in my life right now, except I had a new online store on Instagram called @flatsoever! I have huge addiction for shoes, so maybe I could also share my addiction to you guys heheheh. I'll be launching the proper website once I'm free, but for now feel free to drool over cutesy handmade flat shoes on FLATSOEVER :)

As promised, here is my first Bangkok post! So we actually didn't do much on our first day there, because we took the evening flight (it was Chinese New Year so we had to go to our Granny and other relatives' houses first) and arrived at night.

So these are just some of the foods that we got that night, we also got ice cream and shaved ice for dessert. Foods and drinks are really cheap, well actually prices vary by location, e.g. tourist destinations like Chatuchak Weekend Market or even Thonglor usually a little bit more expensive than other less touristy places.



And this is my youngest sister Jenn, who I always force to take pictures for me! :p Aaaand, before you ask any question: 1) Yes, we all don't look like each other, people always think that we're friends, not siblings, 2) Yes, we all are tall. Jennifer is the tallest one if you're wondering, the shortest is Gabbie (she's only 170cm).


I just realised that the amount of mineral water that we consumed were a lot less than coconut water or orange juices or lime juices, etc... Food/drink stalls are everywhere, and they're only THB 20-40 so we couldn't resist. Exhibit A: photo above.

Hey guys! I thought I would be able to post about my Bangkok Trip this week as I wanted, but unfortunately I'm going to be busy (again) with work, we're going to organise another exhibition this weekend and there will be no time to pick decent photos from thousands of photos that I want to upload here. Even though I didn't go to many places (since my main purpose is to visit my sister), but we had a really good time there! 

I'm planning to travel more this year but as I have a full time job now, it will be hard for me to take some days off . I really envy those full time blogger who can travel here and there every time they want. Sometimes I just miss being a college student when I could write anytime I wanted.... Just so you know, I have tons of stuffs that I want to post here, so many ideas from last year, or even 2013! but I never really got a chance to sit, type and post. People say that it's easy being a blogger, but really, it takes hours for me to edit photos/videos

Hey guys! Sorry that I haven't updated anything in almost two weeks, it's just that I went to Bangkok on Chinese New Year to visit my sister, Gabbie who is currently studying at Burapha University. Then I had to organise an exhibition last week so I wasn't been able to post anything T_T

Halo! Maaf banget yah aku belum sempat update apapun dalam dua minggu terakhir, masalahnya aku pergi ke Bangkok waktu Tahun Baru Cina untuk menemui adikku, Gabbie yang lagi kuliah di Burapha University di Thailand. Ditambah lagi aku harus urus pameran minggu lalu, jadi sama sekali ga bisa post apapun T_T

However I managed to make an appointment at Touch Beauty Asia to try their IPL treatment. IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light and can be used to perform several cosmetic treatments like hair removal or photo rejuvenation. Permanent hair removal by IPL is common things these days, and can be done to remove unwanted hair from your body through several treatments by reducing total number of body hair.

Untungnya aku masih sempat bikin janji di Touch Beauty Asia untuk coba treatment IPL mereka. IPL itu kepanjangannya adalah Intense Pulsed Light dan bisa digunakan untuk banyak perawatan kecantikan seperti hair removal atau photo rejuvenation. Sekarang ini sih menghilangkan bulu dengan menggunakan IPL adalah hal yang sangat biasa, dan bisa dilakukan untuk menghilangkan rambut yang tidak diinginkan dari badan kalian melalui beberapa kali perawatan dengan cara mengurangi jumlah total rambut di setiap treatment.

I always got so many compliments from my friends on my thick hair however I also have thick body hair which I want to remove, that's why I keep waxing, plucking, threading, or shaving, and by doing that my unwanted hair problem isn't really completely gone, they will always come back after few days (if shaved) or weeks (if waxed/plucked/threaded), so IPL is like the only solution for my problem.

Aku sering banget dapat pujian dari teman-teman untuk rambutku yang tebal banget, tapi bagian-bagian rambut yang tidak aku inginkan juga banyak, makanya aku selalu wax, cabut, threading, atau cukur, tapi dengan melakukan semuanya itu masalah rambut yang gak diinginkan gak hilang selamanya, tapi bakal balik lagi setelah beberapa hari (kalau dicukur) atau beberapa minggu (kalau di wax/cabut/thread), jadi IPL itu bagaikan satu-satunya solusi untuk masalah rambut yang ga diinginkan.

I decided to do hair removal treatment for my upper lips because lady moustache is not cute, I don't want to look manly, OK? T_T So basically this is my first time trying IPL for my upper lips and I trusted Touch Beauty Asia to do that for me.

Nah, aku memutuskan untuk menghilangkan rambut dibagian atas bibir, yang sama sekali ga keliatan cute, karena aku ga mau keliatan kaya lelaki, OK? T_T Jadi ini adalah pertama kalinya aku mencoba IPL untuk bagian atas bibirku dan aku mempercayakan Touch Beauty Asia untuk melakukan ini pertama kali.

The cleanliness of the place is good, which is the most important thing for a beauty clinic, the staffs are very communicative and friendly, they answered to all of my questions patiently. There are some steps for IPL hair removal treatment:

Kebersihan tempatnya sangat baik, yang merupakan hal paling penting bagiku untuk sebuah klinik kecantikan. Staffnya pun sangat komunikatif dan ramah, mereka menjawab semua pertanyaanku dengan sabar. Ada beberapa langkah ketika melakukan perawatan IPL:

First, the area is cleaned and shaved.

Pertama, area akan dibersihan dan dicukur terlebih dahulu.

Sunglasses is needed to protect your eyes from the flash light, after that cool gel is applied to the area.

Kacamata digunakan untuk melindungi mata dari sinar flash mesin, setelah itu jel dingin akan diaplikasikan.

Then they will flash the area on top of cool gel for couple times. This is where you'd feel a bit warm, some people asked whether it's painful or not, even though I consider myself as someone with high pain tolerance, let me tell you that it feels nothing!! The beautician kept asking me if it hurts, and I kept telling her 'I don't feel anything'.

Kemudian sinar flash akan dilakukan tepat di area yang dibutuhkan. Dalam langkah ini, rasanya agak sedikit hangat, beberapa orang bertanya apakah rasanya sakit atau tidak, meskipun aku menganggap diriku sebagai orang yang tahan sakit, tapi bener deh gak sakit sama sekali!! Aku ditanyain terus 'Sakit gak?' dan selalu aku jawabin dengan 'Saya gak ngerasain apa-apa, Mbak...'

Once it's finished, the remaining gel is removed by tissue paper, and moisturiser will be applied to the area.

Setelah selesai, sisa jel akan dihapus menggunakan tissue, kemudian akan diaplikasikan moisturizer ke bagian yang baru diflash.

It is already the second week after my treatment, and I was told that the hair will grow back as usual, but will fall off on its own on second to third week after the treatment and I feel that the hair has been reducing for 20-30%, so I'm totally coming back for more treatments at Touch Beauty Asia! :)

Ini sudah minggu kedua setelah perawatan IPL, dan aku diinformasikan kalau rambutnya akan tumbuh seperti biasa, tapi akan rontok dengan sendirinya 2-3 minggu setelah treatment. Aku sendiri sih udah ngerasain kalau jumlah rambutnya sudah berkurang sekitar 20-30% dari biasanya, jadi aku pasti bakal balik untuk treatment selanjutnya di Touch Beauty Asia! :)

If you're still not sure about doing IPL hair removal, I suggest you to do it right away! The treatments are not as expensive as you think, even though you can't see the result after first treatment, but it is reducing body hair little by little after every treatment until it is completely & permanently gone. So it's definitely much cheaper than waxing/shaving your body hair for the rest of your life.

Kalau kalian masih bingung mau melakukan IPL hair removal atau nggak, aku sarankan sih sebaiknya lakukan aja! Sebenernya harga treatmentnya sendiri pun gak semahal yang kita kira loh, memang sih hasilnya gak langsung instan dalam sekali treatment, karena hanya mengurangi jumlah rambut sedikit demi sedikit dalam setiap treatment sampai hilang seluruhnya dengan permanen. Tapi yang jelas ini lebh murah dibandingkan waxing/cukur rambut yang gak diinginkan seumur hidup kan?

Here are some tips from me for IPL hair removal newbies:

Berikut ini adalah tips dariku untuk yang baru mau mencoba IPL:

• Mencukur sebelum melakukan perawatan
• Menggunakan pelembab setelah treatment

• Bath/shower with hot water for the next 24 hours after treatment
• Use deodorant 24 hours before and after treatment
• Swimming/steam baths/sauna for the next 7 days after treatment
• Expose treated area to the sun
• Plucking/waxing/bleaching treated area 4-6 weeks before treatment
• Wear tight clothing near treated area for the next 2-3 days after treatment

Jangan Lakukan:

• Mandi air panas hingga 24 jam setelah perawatan
• Menggunakan deodoran 24 jam sebelum dan sesudah treatment
• Berenang/steam/sauna hingga 7 hari setelah perawatan
• Terkena paparan sinar matahari secara langsung
• Mencabut/waxing/bleaching 4-6 minggu sebelum treatment
• Menggunakan pakaian ketat dekat area yang dirawat hingga 2-3 hari setelah treatment

I really hope my explanation is clear enough for you, but I also filmed the IPL hair removal process from beginning to end of treatment. If you're interested, make sure to make an appointment first. Touch Beauty Asia is also famous with its brow embroidery, I'm quite interested to shape my eyebrows here next time~!
