Family Vacation to Yogyakarta (ft. Habitat@Hyarta)

by - September 08, 2017

My family and I took a short vacation to Yogyakarta last week, it has been quite a long time for us since the last time we were there, so we were all super ecstatic to be back! Since I'm from a big family (I have two sisters), we decided to stay in a villa at Habitat@Hyarta, located in private residential called Hyarta, so we got all the privacy that we could get.

We could just easily book two or three separate hotel rooms, but we booked this villa instead because we wanted to spend more time and hanging out together #BondingMoments. Once we arrived at our villa, we were proven that we made the right choice. Our 200sqm three-bedroom villa was indeed roomy and commodious!

The spacious living room with natural lighting, all rooms in the villa have gigantic windows, which I really like! Modern classic furniture is filling the villa nicely, it sure feels like home.

Master bedroom

I love the modern rustic feeling in the master bedroom. This is, of course, the most spacious bedroom of all three. However, it's not only the bedroom that's spacious, even the bathroom is huge!

En suite bathroom

The bathroom in the master bedroom is the only one that has a bathtub, rain showers are provided in the other two bathrooms.

And here's another bedroom in the villa, a statement piece of batik fabric is hung on the wall in every bedroom. If you didn't know already, Yogyakarta is certainly the center of batik art, it's a loyal heritage brought from Mataram dynasty long time ago. And Batik Yogyakarta is different from others because before batik is worn by royal families only, so it has greatly valuable philosophies, and that's why batik in Yogyakarta is more expensive compared to others. So make sure to get a piece or two when you're visiting.

Breakfast is delivered every morning to the villa, Habitat@Hyarta has quite a lot of different options for meals that I could choose, mostly are Indonesian food which I chose the first day I came in. However the breakfast comes as a set so everyone in the villa will have to eat the same thing, so make sure to order what everyone like. I ordered fried chicken & noodle for the first breakfast and gudeg for my last day. Gudeg is traditional Javanese cuisine that's very popular in Yogyakarta and Central Java, so it's definitely a must try, especially if you're into sweet!

The club house is another facility that guest could use during the stay, and as a gym freak my Dad was thrilled to see the gym, he said all the equipment are high quality. On the other hand, I enjoyed swimming more so I did spend quite a lot of time at the club house and since it's a private residential, there weren't that many people, most of the time it was just me and my family.

If you're currently looking for a place to stay in Yogyakarta, I'd be pleased to suggest you check Habitat@Hyarta, whether it's a vacation with friends or families. The location cannot be more perfect too, it's not too crowded and noisy, but it's close enough to the city center (roughly 20 minutes drive to the famous Malioboro Street). I truly left my heart in Yogyakarta, where everyone is nice and kind, and all the food is tasteful.
